Steam Roller is rock band that placed its decibel imprint on the Antelope Valley in August of 2011. The founding members, Barry Wood, (drummer sensation) from the group The Big Orange along with Ken Johnson (the entertaining bass player) and Mike Conte with his tasteful rhythms and soulful lead work both from the group, Mule Skynner, established their new line up back in 2009.
In 2011 Barry, Ken and Mike decided to take the band to a new level, so they struck out to find the perfect compliment to the strong foundation that they had built. Much to their delight, Lynne Abrams and Mitch Quinones decided to complete the band.
Lynne had fronted a number of bands in the Antelope Valley over the years and is well loved by her loyal friends and fans. Her wide vocal range and heart felt delivery gives Steamroller a rich, sonic pallet and enables them to play a broad cross section of all those great rock and pop songs that we all love to hear. Best of all, she has a heart of gold that you can’t help but be drawn to.
Mitch also has been in many bands in the Antelope Valley... and beyond. Mitch’s extraordinary guitar work has attracted many loyal followers. Although Mitch is an encyclopedia of music theory, the true gold is the passion that he delivers it with. His guitar playing can make you weep for one song, and then, with the very next, get your feet so energized that you won’t be able to keep from getting up and moving and grooving.
This new line up of Steamroller is sure to please your ears and your soul. Steamroller focuses on playing some of the classic rock songs that we all love but maybe haven’t heard in a while. They also like to throw in some contemporary selections on the set list as well and aren’t afraid to put their original spin on a current pop song. At a Steamroller show you might hear anything from Led Zeppelin to Lady Gaga, from Rolling Stones to Fleetwood Mac, from Janis Joplin to Muse. One thing is for sure though… You’ll have a good time.
